Pandora’s Box Metal Sculpture

In Travel by Kevin Wenning0 Comments

This Pandora’s Box sculpture is at Porter Sculpture Garden just outside Sioux Falls South Dakota. The sculpture garden is created by Ron Porter. He turned common scrap metal into art sculptures. Most of the art sculptures tend towards the bizarre like this one. Well it didn’t feel right to do something less than unusual with this image. This is not my usual style, but I found that I really liked pushing an image to a place that’s outside of the normal documentary, travel, landscape photography land that I mostly work in. A photograph can be just the starting point for digital art.

Kay Lynn Gabaldon shared this image on her Voice On The Porch Blog. Through her poetry Kay Lynn paints with words and uses images to enhance them. I do the opposite and rely on people who are good with words to enhance my images.

“Settling for what is comfortable is one of the biggest enemies to our enlargement…
In every season of life…we need to be committed to enlarging our personal capacity
(even when it’s not comfortable).
We need to refuse to be satisfied with our latest accomplishments,
as what we’ve accomplished is no longer our potential
because it has been realized.”
